In ante poker, the player to the left of the dealer is the first to bet. Players can raise or fold their bets during the betting phases. The winner is the player who wins the pot with the best hand. The stakes are typically agreed on at the beginning of the game. However, depending on the game, stakes may vary.
A player may call when he or she wants to raise his or her bet. When a player makes a raise, it adds more money to the pot. Other players then go around the table in a circle, putting in their own bets or raising theirs. If someone else has already made a bet, the player with the highest hand wins the pot.
